The Old Salting Barn (In Welsh Yr Hen Ysgubor Halltu) forms part of a range of listed former farm buildings dating back to the 1700s. At one time used for the salting (for preservation) and hanging of farm produce, in more recent times the barn was used for lambing and as the farm office. We have taken care to conserve the historical character of the barn, and combined this with modern touches to create a compact but cosy and comfortable retreat suited best to a couple (maximum 2 adults).
All spaces are at ground floor level. Entry is from the private patio section of courtyard garden,
complete with garden furniture and chiminea. The entrance door leads directly into the Living Room,
which has a vaulted ceiling with exposed historic timbers, stone flagged floor and a gothic arched
window. There is a dining table, sofa and FreeSat Smart TV, as well as a historic
barred window into the bedroom with a shutter. This leads on to a compact fully formed kitchen
with everything you need including an induction hob, oven, under-counter fridge, microwave,
toaster, etc. The kitchen has a terracotta tiled floor and another gothic arched window. There’s also
a useful drying cupboard. Again, off the living room, is a spacious shower room with a level access
rainfall style shower, wash basin and WC. On the opposite side of the Living Room is a separate
Bedroom with vaulted ceiling, double bed, large wardrobe and dressing table, and a further gothic arched window. Refurbished and extended in 2020 the barn has effective and easy to control
electric heating.
Outside, there is a small private patio area with seating and a chiminea. The conversion of The Old Salting Barn was completed in 2021
